Texas A&M Children's Center - Where Diversity is Embraced

Parents Council

The active involvement of parents is an indispensable feature of our program. We believe in shared decision-making and encourage your input and guidance. PAC meetings are held quarterly, and the members are 2 volunteers from each classroom. These meetings focus on policy and operational issues, which require discussion and feedback. We rely on parents, who attend to guide us on policy issues, problem-solving issues, generate ideas, and provide direction for our growth.

Detailed goals are as follows:

  1. Develop good liaison and communication between the parents and Center administration
    1. Council shares with Center administration any classroom/center concerns, information, and/or problems
    2. Council members inform families of PAC actions and discussions
    3. Center staff share information, educate parents about the program, and share the Center’s perspective with council members

  2. Secure PAC participation in
    1. Identifying Center priorities
    2. Providing guidance regarding policy development and change
    3. Providing suggestions for growth
    4. Evaluation of the program

  3. Generate university financial support for the center
    1. Get letters from student families for Student Advisory Fee Board
    2. Identify, contact, and secure departmental support

  4. Create fundraising committee whose sole focus is to identify non-university sources of financial support

  5. Create, develop, and implement family/center building events
